It?s easy for law enforcement agencies to crack your iPhone?s security code

Think your iPhone?s four-digit lock-screen code is enough to keep away prying eyes? Think again. A new video from Sweden-based Micro Systemation, which sells special tools to law enforcement agencies and military companies, shows just how easy it is to crack that code and gain access to your iPhone in just a few minutes.

More information on the process is outlined by Andy Greenberg at Forbes. Apparently, Micro Systemation?s XRY application can crack an iOS (or Android) passcode very quickly, gain access to all your data, decrypt it, and display all kinds of information including GPS location, call logs, contacts, messages and even key strokes. The XRY uses a similar method to access the root file system that jailbreakers do.

Mike Dickinson, Micro Systemation?s marketing director, says ?business is booming? and the company?s revenue is growing quickly. Though there are potential legal repercussions to authorities gaining access to private user data, this is clearly a growing industry. Are we likely to see the device manufacturers step-up security to counter them?
