Painted China ? Find A New Hobby For Yourself - AJEN Entertainment

Do you have a china cabinet filled with family heirloom china? What about those boxes you inherited when your parent or grandparent passed that you stacked away in the attic? When was the last time that you actually took out these items and really looked at them? They are probably quite lovely pieces of fine china, but they are not doing anyone any good packed away. In the last twenty years or so, Painted china has become a popular hobby for those with artistic talent and interest. One of the more popular artists in china painting is Brenda Morgan Moore. There are some samples on line of some of the beautiful works that she has done.

Before you start, you need to take a look at your own pieces of china to see what you have. Many of the older pieces do not have much color on the plates. For example one set recently observed was all white save some gold edging on the plate. The amount of art that could be added to this plate is only met by the artists imagination, creativity, and skills. If you like painting scenes, flowers, animals, or abstract designs; all would be possible on this plate. If the plate already has a small design on it, one would need to work around what already exists. But what fun to challenge the mind of the creative artist.

Unless you are familiar with Painted china and how to do it, it would be strongly advisable to search out a workshop, Seminar, or class on the topic. Brenda Morgan Moore does travel all over the country doing workshops and there are certainly others. One would need to learn how to match colors, oils, and so forth. You would need to have a working knowledge of brushes, blending of colors, etc. You will also need to have a working knowledge of a kiln, and know what types of oils and paints will work safely in your kiln, and what could destroy it.

If you are an expert in the field of art and of painting pottery and other hard substances, you might be ready to head on to the fine task of painted china. If you are not ready, take a class. One would not want to ruin a piece of fine china. On the other hand, the piece of art created will be beautiful.
