SAN DIEGO - The first half belonged to the San Diego Chargers. The second half was stolen lock, stock and lightning bolt logo by Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos defense.
The Chargers charged to a 24-0 halftime lead, with the score including an 80-yard interception return by Quentin Jammer of a Manning pass in the second quarter and two touchdown catches by tight end Antonio Gates.
But in the second half, Manning threw three TD passes, and the Broncos defense intercepted San Diego's Philip Rivers three times.
Denver put up two defensive scores in the second half, a 65-yard fumble return by Tony Carter and a 46-yard interception return by Chris Harris for the final touchdown of the game.
The 24-point deficit was four short of the largest ever overcome in NFL regular-season history.
Manning finished 24-of-30 for 309 yards.
Rivers ended up 25-of-41 for 242 yards and two TDS but was responsible for six turnovers ? four interceptions and two lost fumbles.
The Broncos and Chargers are now tied atop the AFC West at 3-3, with Denver holding the head-to-head tiebreaker. They're 1 1/2 games ahead of 1-4 Oakland and two games ahead of 1-5 Kansas City.
